A Distorted Mind-Body Connection May Explain Common Mental Illnesses
Disruptions in interoception may underlie anxiety, eating disorders, and other mental health ailments by Diana Kwon
This final edition of the year by Scientific American has focussed on the history and the growing research around Interoception by researchers in the world which impacts on both mental and physical wellbeing
Interoception is one of our inner senses . Read more on the link and we are delighted to be named.
'Green is chair and founder of SEDSConnective, a charity dedicated to neurodivergent people with connective tissue disorders such as Ehlers-Danlos syndromes. These conditions tend to overlap with anxiety disorders, and Green is now advocating for interoception-based therapies to help affected people.

Dr Eccles youtube channel episode 3 with our chair Jane Green MBE and our charity out now !
Jane Green spent 60+ years dismissed by doctors who called her "The Bendy Lady" without understanding the profound connection between her bendy body and neurodivergent brain. Jane went on to found SEDSConnective, the world's first charity dedicated to hypermobile neurodivergent people.
In this powerful conversation with Dr. Jessica Eccles (aka BendyBrain), you will hear the story, the science and how to seek support.
Jane shares her journey from childhood dismissal to MBE recognition, and they explore why doctors are still missing the hypermobility-neurodivergence connection, particularly in women. If you've been told "we all get aches and pains," dismissed by doctors, or felt like your body and brain weren't understood, then this episode is for you, and with SEDSConnective you might just find your tribe.
Dr. Jessica Eccles is medical doctor and researcher, a world-leading expert on hypermobility brain-body connections and patron of SEDSConnective.

Connective Bodies/Brains - Hypermobility EDS,JH and Neurodivergence (Autism ADHD +)
Emerging research is revealing strong links between neurodivergent conditions such as Autism, ADHD, Dyspraxia, Tourette's dyslexia and physical traits like joint hypermobility, Ehlers–Danlos syndromes and other connective tissue differences.
Neuroscience suggests that the same genes and developmental processes shaping the brain can also influence connective tissues, the autonomic nervous system and sensory processing.
This can help explain why many neurodivergent people also experience dysautonomia, pain, utter exhaustion or gut issues which historically and up to recent years have been challenges that have often been overlooked or treated in silos.
