Calibre Audio Books

We’re pleased to share a great resource for members who struggle to read physical books. Calibre Audio is a charity providing audiobooks for people with:

✔️ Hypermobility

(soon to be added to their eligibility list!)
✔️ Learning difficulties
✔️ Brain injury
✔️ Visual impairment
✔️ Physical dexterity challenges
✔️ Neurodivergence

And any other condition that makes it hard to read books!

Young woman listens happily to a Calibre audiobook.

How It Works:

Self-declaration – if you have difficulty seeing, reading, manipulating, or comprehending text, you’re eligible.

  • English-language books only

  • Free for under-25s in the UK£3/month or £30/year for over-25s & international members

Financial support may be available for those who can’t afford it.

International members are welcome.

Calibre makes its own recordings, so most countries (including the UK, EU, US & Australia) are eligible.

Bonus: Possible Book Club!

Calibre has also offered to host an online book club for us! They can train one of our members to lead it, or one of their volunteers might help. If you're interested, we may run a poll to gauge interest.
