Hypermobility Neurodivergence Day

Founded in 2018, SEDSConnective is the first charity in the world dedicated to addressing the connection between symptomatic hypermobility and neurodivergence. As a unique, user-led charity, we have pioneered awareness, education, advocacy, and research in this often overlooked area.

For many years, the connection between hypermobility and neurodivergence was misunderstood or dismissed. Today, we are working to change that - helping individuals, families, professionals, and services better understand the strong links between physical and mental wellbeing.

Why Hypermobility Neurodivergence Day Matters

Hypermobility Neurodivergence Day was inspired by conversations around health, education, and the need for better understanding of hypermobility, its related conditions, and its connection to neurodivergence.

Neurodivergence includes conditions such as:

  • Autism

  • ADHD

  • Dyspraxia

  • Dyslexia

  • Tourette’s Syndrome

  • Dyscalculia

  • and many more

Many neurodivergent individuals also experience significant physical health challenges linked to symptomatic hypermobility. These may include formal diagnoses such as:

  • Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes (EDS)

  • Hypermobile EDS (hEDS)

  • Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder (HSD)

  • Paediatric Generalised Joint Hypermobility (pGJH)

  • POTS

  • Dysautonomia

  • MCAS

  • Chronic Fatigue

  • Chronic Pain

  • Allergies

  • Autoimmune Conditions

  • Gastrointestinal Symptoms

This affects people of all ages, and we believe that the earlier support begins, the better the outcomes.

About SEDSConnective

Entirely volunteer led, SEDSConnective is a small but with deep impact and global influence.

The charity is there to support members with both symptomatic hypermobility and neurodivergence but they do not need a diagnosis.

The charity lead this area in education in the UK and in health involves their members in research and also helps instigate research.

As a society, we often silo-off medical conditions without treating patients for co-ccurring symptoms and challenges. SEDSConnective exits to support a holistic approach to solutions, backed by science and community.

SEDSConnective was founded in 2018 by Jane Green MBE, with the goal of raising awareness and supporting individuals, families, and allied professionals by connecting the dots between physical and mental wellbeing - improving both quality of life and lifespan outcomes.

At SEDSConnective, our mission is to support, advocate for, and transform the lives of our beneficiaries by:

  • Providing trusted resources

  • Building inclusive communities

  • Supporting education and awareness

  • Influencing research and policy

  • Promoting early understanding and intervention

We believe in an embodied body-brain approach - solutions backed by science and guided by community voices.
