ADHD, Autism, Dyspraxia, Tourette’s, Dyslexia but what about the physical health in neurodivergent children and young people?
SEDSConnective is proud to share that the peer-reviewed paper by our Pain advisers and chair Jane Green MBE, which focussed on physical health challenges in neurodivergent children and young people has now reached:
🔹 32,573 views🔹 Altimetric score: 315🔹 15 academic citations, more in some metrics (27)
🔹 And was featured in 8 press articles last year alone including the Guardian and this year in many conferences and an education SEN magazine
Is it challenging to cater for neurodivergent children and young people at mealtimes ?

This latter article highlights how health issues can occur 24 hours a day – not just at mealtimes, but also during:
Breathing
Sleeping
Moving
Learning
Playing
Too often, these physical health challenges are misattributed solely to being autistic or ADHD and the environmental social factors or mental health This can lead to unmet needs and misunderstood behaviours and lifelong trauma.
We call for a more integrated understanding of neurodivergent health one that fully recognises the whole person not just the brain in the environment.
