The new awareness day is created to join the dots between physical and mental health
Sussex, UK – 30th April 2026: SEDSConnective, a user-led charity uniquely focused on supporting individuals with hypermobility (Ehlers-Danlos syndromes/EDS and associated conditions) and neurodivergence (such as autism, ADHD dyspraxia, Tourette’s and dyslexia) has launched “Hypermobility Neurodivergence Day” on May 5th due to lack of awareness of the brain and body conditions amongst the society and the health, education and care staff. This is a global awareness day coined to showcase the co-occurring connections also cited in research in order to support the charity’s growing members community.
SEDSConnective firmly believes that small actions lead to big changes. The chairperson and founder of SEDSConnective, Jane Green MBE, says: “SEDSConnective started small but is making bold moves to make a global impact. #TheySED it was not real – based on my own lived experience and voicing the experiences of our members, we were all asked to remain quiet, and no one believed us. So, #WeSED it is real and needs connecting. We are joining up our voices this 5th of May to support the combined, co-occurring conditions to raise awareness on Hypermobility Neurodivergence Day. We need everyone’s support to help as many people as we can.”
The awareness day was inspired by conversations surrounding health, care and education of individuals with hypermobility and co-occurring conditions, such as links to neurodivergence. The aim is that the services for mental and physical health connect with strong charities championing hypermobility and neurodivergence and adopt a mandatory neurodivergence training.
