Liberation Art Gallery: a space for creativity and wellbeing

Updated: Apr 7

Welcome to Liberation Art Gallery in connection with SEDSConnective

At Liberation Art Gallery, we believe art should be for everyone, not just to admire, but to experience as a way of improving mental and physical health. We are an Art Therapist, neurodivergent and disabled-led Arts for Health organisation. We are passionate about creating arts communities and connections for those who struggle to access the arts.

We have set out to create something different. More than just a gallery, this is a place where art meets therapy, offering a welcoming environment for creativity, self-expression, and healing.

Through our collaboration with SEDSConnective and Liberation Arts CIC, we launched a pilot art therapy service for adults who are neurodivergent, have chronic pain, symptomatic hypermobility (EDS HSD) and more. No formal diagnosis required! Our approach is rooted in the idea that art isn’t just for walls; it can be a powerful tool for self expression, discovery and release and a way to process understanding and access support.

Art as Therapy: Supporting Those in Pain

Living with a long-term health condition affects every part of life. It brings physical discomfort, emotional strain and the constant challenge of finding ways to manage day-to-day. While support and medical treatment is vital, Art Therapy can also make a real difference.

Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that offers something unique. It allows people to express what can’t always be put into words. Whether it’s painting, drawing, working with clay, or other creative activities, the process itself can be a form of release, helping to ease stress, focus the mind, and bring a sense of connection and control to the individuals participating.

At Liberation Art Gallery, we provide a space where people can:

Express emotions in a safe and supportive environment.

Explore creativity as a way of coping with pain.

Find calm through focused, mindful art-making.

Connect with others with similar journeys.

These sessions are open to all, no previous experience is needed. It’s not about creating a masterpiece: it’s about using art to feel better.

A Gallery with Purpose

We’re not just another gallery selling paintings- Liberation Art Gallery is built on the idea that art should be accessible to everyone, both as an experience and for its therapeutic benefits. Thank you to to SEDSConnective, we’re able to make this vision a reality, bringing inclusive, community-led projects into the heart of what we do.

What makes us different?

●      Exhibiting work by neurodivergent artists, including disabled and neurodivergent creators.

●      Hosting workshops and events focused on wellbeing and self-expression.

●      Creating a welcoming, inclusive space where everyone can engage with art in a way that’s meaningful to them.

Every piece in our gallery tells a story, it's not just about artistic talent, but about resilience, personal journeys, and the role of creativity in overcoming challenges.

We’d love for you to be part of what we’re building. Whether you’re an artist, someone dealing with chronic pain, or simply a supporter of accessible arts, there are plenty of ways to get involved:

Join our art therapy sessions – No need for experience, just a willingness to explore.

Visit our exhibitions – Discover artwork created by individuals with unique experiences.

Support our mission – Help us expand our work and connect with more people.

This project wouldn’t be possible without our collaboration with SEDSConnective, who shares our belief that art has the power to improve lives. Your support is making a real difference and we’re excited to keep growing together.
